What is the city doing to preserve water?

The City of Morden would like to thank the residents who are doing their part to help the City conserve water. Your efforts do not go unnoticed!

The City is also doing their part and has implemented some changes for the season. These include, but are not limited to:

PARKS & URBAN FORESTRY DEPARTMENT:

  • Tree planting and watering will be done with non-city sourced water from Elite Crushing gravel pits.

  • The hanging flower baskets and flowerpot program has been cancelled.

  • Spray Park - will not operate this year.

  • Confederation Park – The irrigation system will not be utilized.

  • Ball Diamonds – irrigation system will not be utilized; washroom facilities will remain closed but could be reconsidered based on Covid-19 restrictions.

  • Added two additional 2,500-gallon tanks to the Access Event Centre rain garden for a total of 10,000-gallon storage capacity captured from the Co-op Arena roof.

CAMPGROUND:

  • Showerheads will be replaced with low-flow showerheads.

  • Non-resident campers have received a notification to fill their water tanks before coming to Morden.

COMMUNITY GARDENS:

  • The City will be filling the water tanks with non-City sourced water. Users of the facility are restricted to watering twice a week.

  • The Parks and Urban Forestry Department is hauling water from Elite Crushing and utilizing it for watering city trees and supplying water to the Community Gardens. The water has been tested and is safe for landscape and garden watering.
