Annual Events

Morden’s Multicultural Winterfest

Morden’s Multicultural Winterfest is a community celebration of the wonderful richness of the cultures in our region as well as the great activities that we can enjoy during our Manitoba winters. This is a free festival open to everyone. Activities include outdoor boot hockey, snowshoeing, sleigh rides, bonfire, traditional foods and hot beverages, indoor crafts, dance demonstrations, cultural entertainment, refreshments, and much more. Come and enjoy an afternoon of winter fun with your neighbours old and new.

Arbor Day

Arbor Day is an annual event that promotes tree planting and appreciation of trees. In Morden It's celebrated in June, and it's always been a popular way for communities to come together to celebrate trees.

In addition to being fun and inspiring, Arbor Day serves an important purpose: it helps us remember how important our environment is to our health and well-being. Trees are part of what makes Earth such a wonderful place!

Mental Health Week

The City of Morden coordinates events for Mental Health Week in the first full week of May.

Even in times of extreme anxiety and stress, mental health is something we can protect, not just something we can lose.

This CMHA Mental Health Week, we focus on how naming, expressing, and dealing with our emotions — the ones we like and the ones we don’t — is important for our mental health.

Heavy feelings lighten when you put them into words. When we voice our emotions, the pain gives way. So, let’s understand and name how we feel. Angry? Glad? Frustrated? Sad? It’s all good.

This Mental Health Week, don’t be uncomfortably numb. #GetReal about how you feel. And name it, don’t numb it.

Paddlefest

This annual event held on the third Saturday of June gives everyone the opportunity to try our paddling sports for free! Canoes, Kayaks, Paddleboards, and Dragon Boats are available to try. Races are also scheduled and free to join, to bring out the competitive spirit.

Suncatch Sounds

Enjoy free live music with a cash bar throughout the summer at the Suncatch Courtyard outside the Pembina Hills Art Gallery. A variety of music styles are featured for all to enjoy!

Canada Day

Morden holds an annual Beach Blast at Lake Minnewasta for Canada Day. The afternoon includes a sandcastle building contest, facepainting, food vendors, and enough flags and tattoos for everyone. Enjoy the water for a swim, or the sand to soak up sun. The evening brings a band on stage playing your favourites, followed by the national anthem and stunning display of fireworks over the lake.

Sport & Leisure Expo

This annual event is held on the Wednesday after Labour Day. Many of Morden and area sports and recreation groups set up displays and take registrations. Relevant to all ages!

Tree Lighting + Winter Parade

This event, held on the Friday after Remembrance Day, is full of charm and holiday spirit. Santa arrives at the Civic Centre leading the Winter Parade and waves to all the people gathered to see him. On the street just outside you’ll find cozy bonfires, marshmallows and hot chocolate with holiday music in the background. The event ends with a tree-lighting countdown followed by fireworks.
