Morden City Council Announces Resignation of Councillor Nancy Penner

MORDEN, MB - October 23, 2023 - The City of Morden announces the resignation of Councillor Nancy Penner, effective immediately.

Councillor Penner submitted her formal notice of resignation citing her intention to run in the upcoming by-election for mayor. According to section 40(2) of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Elections Act, current council members are required to resign their positions to participate in a by-election.

The vacant mayoral and two (2) vacant Council seats will be filled through a by-election, which is scheduled to take place on December 20, 2023. Prospective candidates are required to register with the Senior Election Official (SEO) during the registration period, as outlined in the Notice of Registration: Municipal By-Election for the Head of Council.

During the registration period, candidates may register for the Office of Mayor and the office of Councillor two (2) positions up to and including November 14th, 2023 at the City of Morden administration office located at 100-195 Stephen Street during regular business hours.
